How dbell doorbell for small business help?
Sitting on a warm, sunny beach in Florida, Innkeeper Jane Dominie doesn’t worry if someone shows up at the front door of her Moonlight Beach Suites in Nova Scotia, Canada, looking for a room. Her doorbell rings on her smartphone, and with the tap of an icon, she is face to face with her visitor so many miles to her north. Not only can she see them, she can talk to them, too, and they to her. “I love that if somebody comes to the door and I’m not there, I can answer it. If I’ve got vacancies for that night, I can give them directions to the suite and they can let themselves in and I can catch up with them later.
And if I don’t have vacancies I can tell them right then on the phone.” Jane installed the doorbell a few months ago and after downloading the APP to her smartphone, she linked it to her existing WiFi network. From there it was a simple matter of setting her preferences and she was good to go. As long as her smartphone or tablet is with her, she is always “at home” even when she’s not.
And when she is, there’s no need to rush to the door to see who’s there. “I have a little sign on the door asking them to ring the doorbell,” says Jane. “If I’m not able to come to the door right away, I can tell them I’m here. Just give me a couple minutes and I’ll be there. Sometimes we get late night people dropping by, and if I’m already in bed, I can tell them we don’t have any vacancies and I can stay in my jammies!”
How easy to install dbell doorbell for small business?
Installation of the dbell doorbell camera is fairly simple, although whenever connecting a new technology to old, there can be questions. In most cases, simply remove your old doorbell, and connect the new dbell to the same wires. As long as the old wires offer voltage between 12 and 24 volts, the new doorbell camera should be working. If voltage is different, there’s an easy solution.
When Harriet from Berkeley, California first installed her dbell, she discovered her existing doorbell’s voltage was too low. She opened up her doorbell Chime box and took a picture of the doorbell chime wiring. Then she sent to dbell. “dbell sent it back with a little box and arrows that said take this wire from here and move it over there, and much to my amazement, it worked. I guess he’d encountered this problem before, and he knew the solution.”
There are few problems that dbell cannot resolve quickly. When the audio of her doorbell failed to work, she suspected the problem was not with the doorbell, but with her smartphone. Again, she called dbell tech support. “He actually went out and got a phone with the same system and he recreated the problem. He told me his programmer was on vacation but he would contact him and get back to me. So he called me the next day, and they had actually re-written the APP to solve the problem. The fact that he went out of his way to solve my problem, and seemed grateful that I’d identified a problem that other people might have, really amazed me.”
Feeling safer
Feeling Safer Security was uppermost in Harriett’s mind when she chose the dbell. Her California neighborhood had been suffering a series of break-ins, and people were becoming concerned about their safety. After opening her door late one night to a stranger, without even thinking, she decided it was time to bolster her security. “I don’t particularly like it when I’m home alone at night and the doorbell rings,” says Harriet. “ It’s very infrequent, but even during the day I don’t like it when the doorbell rings and I’m not expecting anyone. I’ve found that I don’t even like going to the door and looking through the peephole, because in some cases I don’t really want somebody to know that I’m here.”
Barbara, in Western Canada, feels the same. “I have a basement studio, and 90% of the time when my doorbell rings it’s somebody selling something, pushing something, wanting something that I really just don’t have time for. I can just politely say No.”
Barbara also likes the convenience of the being in immediate touch with her visitors when the unexpected happens. “I was in Toronto and I got an unexpected delivery,” says Barbara. “I didn’t know what to do with it because I was going to be gone three weeks and the post office won’t keep it that long. So I told the post lady over the phone to leave it on the step. Then I called my neighbor and asked her to please pick up my new printer off my front porch!”
Personal Choices
Each dbell comes with a wireless indoor chime that can be placed just about anywhere on your property. Once paired with the doorbell, it will chime whenever the bell is pushed, so if your smartphone or tablet is not with you, you can still hear the bell. Up to four chimes can be connected to one doorbell, and placed around your property. You can even choose the chime you want from a list of 52 different tones and control the volume level of your indoor chime. You can also upload your own music to play when someone rings your doorbell!
When setting your preferences you can also choose what sound you want your smartphone or tablet to make when the doorbell rings. You can record a video of the conversation with the person standing at your front door. The intensity of the motion detector can be set. Or motion detection can be turned off altogether if you don’t want it. There is also a feature that will allow you to remotely unlock the front door for someone, if you already have an electronic door lock.
And That’s Not All…
It’s not hard to find new and creative ways to use the doorbell. Even if someone doesn’t ring the bell, you can tap in to the camera and see the view from your front door, even if it’s just to check the weather. Jane Dominie likes the camera feature so much that she may buy a second doorbell for the back door of the inn, just so she can see a view of the ocean when she’s away. And even better, her husband always knows how to find her.
“My husband used to have a cell phone but he’d never take it with him,” says Jane. “I’d call him and the phone would ring in the closet. So I got rid of his phone and now we use the doorbell as a connection between us. If he wants me for something he just goes and rings the doorbell and we talk!”
Dane from Kingstone wrote, “I made my first sale through the dbell at one location when I was somewhere else”.
